IOTA custom-manufactures aluminium planters in any shape or size, from simple geometric shapes to complex architectural designs.

Aluminium is a very useful and versatile metal for planter manufacture due to its resilience and light weight.

Finish and appearance

Aluminium planters can be supplied ‘raw’ (without any external paint or coating), and they will survive outdoors for decades without maintenance.

Aluminium naturally develops a protective layer of aluminium oxide; and this layer adheres strongly to the parent metal, and will repair itself immediately if damaged mechanically.

Even in a coastal environment, aluminium will outperform galvanised steel, and it will not display the surface staining [aka ‘tea staining’] sometimes evident with stainless steel. The look of raw, naturally weathered aluminium is flat and light grey, and sometimes a little pitted – a hard, architectural aesthetic, that can work well in many modern design settings.

If a more refined look is required, then aluminium planters can be supplied powder coated, exactly as for steel. Powder-coated aluminium and steel look, and perform, essentially the same; but aluminium has a much higher strength:weight ratio than steel, and thus aluminium planters would typically be preferred where weight is an issue.
