Heald’s Viper is a high-security road blocker designed to stop heavy vehicles at speeds up to 50mph (80kph), with a shallow foundation depth from 380mm. Tested to PAS 68 and ASTM standards, Viper uses a wedge and folding skirt design, is available in hydraulic, electromechanical and manual variants, and is made for rapid installation and high visibility.

  • High-security road blocker for hostile vehicle mitigation

  • Tested to stop a 7.5-tonne truck at 50mph (80kph) with zero penetration

  • Shallow foundation depth from 380 to 460mm for easier installation

  • Electromechanical variant uses no hydraulic oil, reducing environmental impact

  • Manual version requires no power supply, suitable for remote locations

  • Durbar plate and folding skirt reduce slip risk and debris collection

  • Multiple wedge widths from 1.8 to 4m

  • Cycle tested to 200,000 operations for reliability

Applications

  • Critical infrastructure protection

  • Government and military sites

  • Airports and transport hubs

  • Commercial and industrial premises

  • Public spaces requiring vehicle access control

  • Remote or off-grid locations

Options and variations

Hydraulic, electromechanical and manual operation

Emergency Fast Operation (EFO) option

Electromechanical Viper – 7.5T @ 50mph (80kph)

The World’s first Electromechanical Roadblocker that’s shallow mount, crash rated to 50mph (80kph) and has a raise height of 1050mm.

Drive Operation:

Electromechanical Drive (battery backup and manual override supplied as standard).

The electromechanical Viper is available as either an array or a singular unit. Due to the EM drive unit the Viper uses less electricity to operate and requires a small cabinet, which can be positioned at a greater distance from the products than its hydraulic counterpart, reducing the carbon footprint & spatial footprint.

The electromechanical Viper can run off a three phase 20amp supply for both standard and EFO (Emergency Fast Operation) versions.

Standard operation speed: 6 seconds

EFO operation speed: 1.5 seconds

Performance Ratings:

ASTM: ASTM 2656-07 M50:P1

PAS68: PAS68:2010 V/7500[N3]/80/90: 0/24.6

Installation

Sustainability

Electromechanical variant uses no hydraulic oil, reducing risk of spills and environmental contamination

Smaller roadside cabinet reduces material use and carbon footprint
