Context

SoluForm above water concrete-filled bagwork was used to address a scour in a West Sussex riverbank to preserve the ecological balance, and support future vegetation and biodiversity enhancement along the bank.

Challenge

The client needed a robust and environmentally-sensitive solution for this project, aiming to deliver critical structural reinforcement to address and repair the severe scour affecting the integrity of the riverbank.

Solution

Given the site's variable ground conditions and the importance of ensuring long term stability, SoluForm's above water concrete filled bagwork was strategically installed and hand-placed around the base and foundation repairing the sour, and constructed to form a reinforced retaining wall, ensuring both the stability and durability of the new retaining structure in line with long-term performance objectives.

Outcome

The implemented solution delivered a robust structural barrier, effectively halting further scour development while preserving the integrity of the surrounding area and maintaining unimpeded river flow.
