SoluForm concrete bagwork was used to create retaining walls for a modern landmark development near Reading, Berkshire.
Challenge
SoluForm was asked to provide above-water concrete filled bags for a number of retaining walls at the 340,000 sq ft development.
As this was a brand new, purpose-built project, a product was required that was long lasting, flexible, and would also allow natural growth in time to blend into the surroundings.
As this was a fast-paced project with tight deadlines a product that was easy to handle and install was a key requirement.
Solution
SoluForm’s above-water 32N bagwork with water-soluble liners were exactly what was needed.
The high-strength structural mix is designed to form a longer-lasting, durable concrete block once set, but while being installed is malleable, allowing the product to be neatly installed and levelled.
SoluForm's bags weigh just 20kg each, so they can be handled by a single person, and easily transported to site for installation.
Outcome
Project deadlines were adhered to, avoiding costly delays.
The modular size of the bagwork allowed for a stretcher course pattern that could be installed with precision and ease. It allowed the installation of a visually aesthetic near vertical wall either side of a gulley to manage surface water from the large site.
