Ipe is a stunning tropical hardwood that is ideal for external use due to its extreme stability and durability. It weathers well and is known for its strength and density. These properties explain why decks and other external structures made out of this timber can retain their integrity and good looks for decades after installation.

Weathering

Like any natural wood material, over time the surface will fade to a natural grey, a process which occurs when wood is exposed to sunlight.  

Depending on the location of the site and the levels of UV it is subjected to, this process can be quickened or slowed and will begin from the moment of installation. Whilst the durability of the boards is not affected, maintenance treatments are available to maintain the deeper tones.
