Hardwood types

Ipe

Ipe is native to South America, where it is known as ironwood because of its durability, density and natural resistance to insect and fungal attacks. It offers a century of service, even without treatment. Ipe features rich, dark grains which offer a luxurious finish, and displays eye-catching colour variations, with sparks of red, green and brown.

Balau

Balau is a lower cost option, but is also tough and attractive. Its colour varies from mid to light browns, giving it a contemporary appearance, particularly when wet.

Oak

Oak is popular with those looking to blend a deck with more traditional surroundings.
