CTS has extensive experience in the design, manufacture and installation of truss footbridges in a variety of locations across the UK.
Bow-string truss bridges
CTS is experienced in fabricating bow-string truss bridges to incorporate lighting and decorative features.
Vierendeel truss bridges
CTS has designed and fabricated Vierendeel steel trusses in lengths of 5m upwards. This type of truss provides a cleaner elevation, which lends itself to various design options, such as timber infills on the parapet, or constructing the parapet as a completely separate item with arched top booms. This is the most popular style of steel truss superstructure CTS manufactures.
Warren and Pratt truss bridges
CTS is experienced in fabricating these structures to incorporate lighting and decorative features.
- Warren truss: an efficient structure for longer lengths.
- Pratt truss: the most structurally efficient, therefore a more economical option for longer length truss superstructures.
- Modified Pratt truss: marginally more costly than the Pratt truss (because of the extra cross-brace in the truss sides); generally chosen over the ordinary Pratt truss for a preferred elevational view.
Other types of truss bridges
Butterfly arch, bow string arch, space truss / lenticular truss or cable stay. Each one is made to order by liaising with the client to achieve their aspirations.
