EPDM tank liner fabrication for stormwater storage tanks
Gordon Low supplied EPDM water tank liners for a project involving Evenproducts and Severn Trent Water Authority. 300 tank liners were provided, with additional units continuing to be supplied.
The challenge
Severn Trent manages approximately 2,472 storm overflow systems across the UK's largest network. The water company identified the need to address stormwater management challenges as part of its program to reduce spills. This involved collaboration with Evenproducts Ltd to deploy an auxillary tank solution. The tanks were manufactured using Tata Steel's Magizinc® steel coating, designed for reduced environmental impact and extended service life.
Evenproducts solution
Evenproducts worked with Severn Trent to install an auxiliary tank solution for stormwater management. Over 300 hydrostatically balanced steel tanks were installed across 200 locations, providing capacity for additional stormwater storage. The approach was designed to prevent spills and support river health objectives.
The solution offered an alternative to concrete tanks, addressing Severn Trent's requirements for deployment speed and operational longevity. The fully commissioned storm overflow tanks feature a 75ft (23m) diameter, 10ft (3m) height, and 1200m³ capacity each.
