- Seal ECO EPDM rubber liner
ABBCO, led by owner Morgan, redesigned the 10th hole at Boston Golf Course. The redesign altered the hole's strategic layout, visual appearance, and environmental characteristics. A 420m² pond was installed directly in front of the green. Gordon Low supplied the Seal Eco EPDM liner, which ABBCO installed to provide waterproofing for the pond.
ABBCO rebuilt the existing bunker and repositioned it closer to the pond. This positioning creates a visual relationship with the green and introduces a strategic challenge for players. Soil excavated from the pond was reused on-site to adjust contours around the fairway and rough. Native plants were added around the pond to integrate it with the surrounding landscape and provide habitat.
The modifications changed how the hole plays. Tee shot placement affects the approach angle, while the second shot requires carry over the pond. The repositioned bunker catches mis-hit shots. These features create a risk-reward scenario based on shot placement and accuracy.
The project demonstrates the application of EPDM liner technology in golf course water feature construction, combined with ABBCO's installation capabilities under Morgan's direction. The pond feature functions as part of the hole's strategic design while contributing to water management and ecological objectives.
