Habit

Small tree with round crown, 6-8 (10) m tall, 4-6 m wide, short stem or several stems, then more funnel-shaped; branches reaching up or outwards, twigs horizontally or upwardly bent, rarely arching; slow-growing, 15 cm a year

Sun to light shade, then with few flowers; extremely tolerant of heat and drought, moderately frost hardy; the extent of the frost damage depends on the soil quality, good for urban and industrial areas, wind resistant but flowers are sensitive to wind

Best on well drained, gravely or sandy-loamy soil (neutral) alkaline to very alkaline, no clay, dry to fresh
