Context

The Flex MSE system with concrete backfill and geogrid support was used to create retaining walls on another phase of a high-profile infrastructure project for Network Rail.

This phase included the design and installation of multiple retaining walls across a constrained rail environment, with the Gravitas team installing a retaining wall that will support the wider delivery of the new Cambridge South Station.

Project detail

Concrete backfill was chosen for the Flex MSE retaining walls to minimise the rear footprint, with the design tailored to suit site-specific challenges.

Gravitas also delivered free installation training to the team at Murphy’s, who then went on to construct two additional Flex MSE walls independently.

Cambridge South Station is on track to open in 2026, which will reduce environmental impacts and support a 10% biodiversity net gain - exactly the kind of green objectives Flex MSE is designed to support.
