TreeBunker™ is the latest generation of structural soil cells for planting new trees in hard landscaping. The system's unique composition provides architects and engineers greater flexibility in the design of tree pits in urban environments. It is an exceptionally strong soil cell structure, withstanding point load resistance up to 700kN/m2.
Benefits
Adaptable, flexible design
Exceptionally strong
Consistent spacing between legs and adjacent units.
Heights from 400mm to 1.6m
Full range of ancillary products available
Provides uncompacted volumes of soil
Ideal for break out zones and fully hard landscaped areas
TreeBunker allows the growth of functional mature trees while also providing effective stormwater management.
Trees are typically not considered part of grey or green stormwater management systems; they are generally, and falsely, considered to be of landscaping value. Planting a tree just for landscaping is not taking advantage of the stormwater benefits and other environmental benefits the trees provide.
Installing trees in locations that are engineered to retain stormwater is a great way to complement existing stormwater management systems, increasing their capacity and improving water quality while greatly improving urban forest canopy.
Benefits of using TreeBunker for stormwater management
Growing healthy trees – prevent trees from summer stress caused by drought
Trees are perfect for water storage – every year the tree grows, the water storage capacity grows too
Trees promote infiltration rates – tree roots and soil biology are maintaining the stormwater system
Water is stored for longer periods – the soil is acting like a sponge
Filtering pollutants – soil and soil biology filter out nutrients and pollutants, only clean water will infiltrate down
Economical interesting – no maintenance is needed as the system performs better each year while the tree is growing
