Context
HMS installed resin bound paving in Oyster Pearl and Cappuccino to create inviting and durable outdoor recreational areas at David Lloyd fitness and leisure centre in Houghton, Rugby.
Challenge
David Lloyd Leisure is a renowned name in the fitness and leisure industry and as such wanted to wow new members with its spa, garden and other outdoor spaces to enhance the overall member experience.
Before David Lloyd Leisure, the site was home to Rugby Radio Station which was the largest transmitting station in the world, resulting in significant groundworks and construction to make it what it is today.
The challenge was to create an aesthetically-pleasing, low-maintenance and slip-resistant surface that could withstand heavy foot traffic and varying weather conditions.
Key steps
Site survey: HMS conducted a thorough survey of the outdoor spaces to evaluate the overall landscape that required resin bound paving and allow it to provide accurate costings to ensure a sufficient sub-base and drainage.
Material selection: a high-quality resin bound system was chosen, known for its UV stability, durability, porosity and wide range of colour options. HMS worked with David Lloyd to match colour blends that coordinated with their vision. Not only are these aesthetically pleasing, but they also meet project specifications.
Surface preparation: surface preparation is crucial for the success of any project. HMS ensured surfaces were free from dirt, muck and debris and ready for the surfacing to be installed.
Installation: HMS expertly installed the resin bound paving to the spa, garden and entrance with a team that is experienced in working on large-scale projects. Meticulous attention to detail ensured a flawless finish across all areas.
Finishing touches: the project included the incorporation of design elements and colour patterns specified by David Lloyd to ensure the overall aesthetics complemented the brand. The result was a visually stunning outdoor space that seamlessly blended with the surrounding environment.
Result
The completion of the resin bound paving at David Lloyd in Rugby was the final piece of the jigsaw; to create a visually stunning, functional and low-maintenance outdoor area that conveys unrivalled excellence.
Visually stunning: the resin bound surface provides a sleek and modern appearance, contributing to the overall appeal of the new leisure facility.
Durability: the high-quality materials used ensure the longevity of the paving, even under heavy usage and varying weather conditions.
Safety: the slip-resistant nature of resin bound surfacing enhances the safety of members, particularly during wet conditions.
Low maintenance: the easy-to-clean surface minuses maintenance requirements, allowing staff to focus on the member experience.
Conclusion
The David Lloyd resin bound paving project stands as a shining example of how thoughtful material selection and expert installation can transform outdoor spaces.
The combination of aesthetics, durability and safety has elevated the overall member experience, showcasing the commitment of David Lloyd Leisure to provide top-notch facilities for its patrons.
