Polydeck’s GRP POLYbridges are made in a unique way utilising aggregate, resins, glass mat and a structural foam core made from recycled plastic bottles.
Each square metre of foam that goes into the planks, rails and posts uses approximately 140 recycled 500ml plastic bottles. Products are manufactured inside a special mould and emerge with a unique timber deck and also castellated finish. They look like timber but will not rot or degrade.
POLYbridges will last in excess of 75 years, which means reduced need for replacement bridges, reduced cost in life and also a lower carbon footprint compared to timber bridges.
Features
Sizes
Available in a range of standard lengths (up to 15m), widths and loading capabilities; bespoke bridge sizes are also available.
Loading
Loading typically to 5KN per SQM UDL, but higher loadings can be achieved.
Made from GRP
Made from GRP in a thermoset process, so unlike recycled plastic options, these bridges will not warp in hot weather.
100% recycled plastic bottles
The structural foam core is made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. Every square metre of foam removes 140 x 500ml plastic bottles from landfill.
Design life
In excess of 75 years.
Natural environment
Unique timber deck finish which blends with the natural environment.
Installation
Quick and simple to install, which reduces time on site and costs.
Slip resistant
Slip-resistant walkway planks with PTV of ’92’ even when wet. Ensures the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and equestrian users.
Finishes and colours
A range of walkway plank finishes and colours to suit the natural environment.
Compliance
Complies with BS 4592-0:2006+A1:2012 5kN/m2 loading requirements. Complies with all Euro Codes and British Standards including deck and parapet loading requirements (see standards pages).
Environmentally-friendly
Wood preservatives can be very harmful to the environment and toxic to many animals and plants, but above all else, they only work in preserving wood for a short time, resulting in further negative environmental impact when they need regular replacement.
With no leaching of contaminants and a core that contains 140 recycled 500ml plastic bottles per square metre, POLYbridge™ is great for the environment in many ways.
Complete design to installation service
Polydeck offers a complete design, manufacture, supply and installation service which includes design drawings, loading calculations, AIP documentation and other essentials such as RAMS, Certificates of Conformity and independently-verified Environmental Product Declarations. Alternatively, materials can just be delivered to site.
