Phi Group is providing specialist installation services for retaining structures to Principal Contractor, Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering Ltd as part of the Roseburn to Union Canal link, a £12.5m active travel scheme near Edinburgh. The project will transform public spaces along the route, creating a green corridor and cycleway and bringing disused areas back into community use.
Due to the site topography there is a requirement for various retaining structures.
Project detail
The complete reinforced soil installation package includes 665m2 of the Tensar TW3 modular block-faced system and 415m2 of the Greenslope reinforced soil slope system, across several locations.
Some of the locations have restricted access, meaning that careful planning with all relevant parties was required to ensure a smooth installation process, with agreed delivery of materials to the working area planned in advance, when required.
