Barcelona removable and updatable wayfinding signage for Windsor town centre
Hornbeck's Barcelona wayfinding monolith signage has been installed in Windsor to help visitors make their way around the town.
Windsor Castle welcomes nearly 1.5 million visitors per year and the Great Park 5.4 million, and many more come just to enjoy the royal connections, attractive shopping and eating areas, Eton College and the River Thames.
Project detail
Special wayfinding is needed in the remarkable place which is where the Barcelona monolith comes in. Available in unlimited variations of height, depth, width, colour, finish, graphics and mounting it was the obvious choice for such a high-profile location.
An additional factor was the need to remove the monoliths temporarily for special events and leave a flush surface behind. Hornbeck used a special foundation unit that allows the monoliths to be easily and quickly unlocked and removed, and a blanking plate applies to allow pedestrians, vehicles, and doubt horses to move freely through the area.
The panels are made from toughened glass and the graphics are easily updatable, an essential feature given the flexible nature of town centres.
