Talk Tubes are a fantastic addition to any playground. They allow children to talk, sing, or whisper to each other from across the playground. This encourages social interaction, cooperative and imaginative play, and is a fun way for children to learn about how sound is transmitted.
The 3-inch rigid MDPE pipe is perfect for transmitting sound, and the minimum 2.5-inch internal diameter ensures clear speech transmission. Even the softest whispers can be heard!
When you order Talk Tubes, you'll receive 12m (40ft) of piping with the underground connection kit. However, if you need to extend the range of your Talk Tubes, you can purchase additional 6m (20ft) sections of pipe from our Accessories page. This can extend the range of the Talk Tubes up to a suggested maximum distance of 50m (160ft).
The Talk Tubes come with a pair of large stainless steel 'sound cones' that are designed to capture sound optimally and block out other playground noise. The cones come with anti-debris mesh and are angled to avoid water ingress. They are installed at two heights to ensure they are suitable for children of different ages.
Children will love using the Talk Tubes to communicate with each other. They can place their mouth in one sound cone while their friend listens from the other side of the playground. This creates a fun and engaging way for children to experiment with sound and develop their active listening skills.
The Talk Tubes are inclusive, and all children can join in the fun, including those with limited ability or in wheelchairs. They have valuable sensory play elements and are perfect for installing in a playground, along a sensory path, or on a walkway.
