ArmaStone was used in a pleasing stepped arrangement that splays the wingwalls in a novel arrangement for this bridge abutment in Borkeld, Holland. The loads from the bridges structure were supported on piles behind the abutment faces. The structure was however integral and therefore required no bearings or expansion joints
