TERRAM PW2 and PW3.1 drainage geocomposites are trackbed separators designed for rail applications, used to separate ballast from subgrade while enhancing drainage.
PW2 is intended for use in wet conditions and on good sub-grade soils containing angular stone, while PW3.1 incorporates an impermeable side to act as a barrier between water and the formation where required.
Features and benefits
Separates ballast from subgrade to prevent mixing and maintain track stability
Enhances drainage in wet conditions or where a high water table exists (PW2)
PW3.1 includes an impermeable membrane to create a water barrier where needed
PW3.1 intercepts water and drains it laterally into side drains, maintaining dry sub-base conditions
Reduces subgrade erosion and helps maintain rail track alignment
Network Rail approved with PADS numbers
Applications
Permanent way rail trackbed construction and maintenance
Situations where subgrade erosion or water ingress may compromise track alignment
Wet ground conditions or areas with poor drainage (PW2)
Locations requiring a barrier between water and formation (PW3.1)
Materials
PW2: HDPE geonet sandwiched between two layers of TERRAM PW1 geotextile
PW3.1: black LDPE impermeable membrane, drainage net, and TERRAM PW1.0 geotextile
