Terra-Lock™ is a system of geotechnical engineering designed to provide slope stability and prevent heavy ground erosion. How it works
The Terra-Lock™ system uses innovative ‘grip’ and ‘pull’ technology. The system is a combination of TRM (Turf Reinforcement Matting) and mechanical anchors. The TRM, which is made from a composite of materials, conforms to the ground surface and has an open 3D structure to enable rapid development of vegetation. In addition, ground anchors are used to prevent bulk earth movement by locking into stable soil beneath potential failure planes.
The TRM reduces surface erosion from water and air, while its permeability prevents undermining of the structure. The Earth-Vegetation-TRM composite allows for a large increase in the allowable shear stresses from erosion which prevents excessive soil loss. The anchors then transfer shear forces deep into the ground to ensure a secure and stable system.
