Environmental credentials

Corporate Social Responsibility

Barriers are manufactured under a policy of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) which is regularly assessed by ECOVADIS, the world’s largest and most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings. The current result in the EcoVadis rating and historical performance fulfils the eligibility criteria to receive an EcoVadis Sustainability recognition gold medal and certificate, as an acknowledgment of the meaningful efforts that the company and its people have undertaken to create a more sustainable world.

Environmental Product Declaration

Barriers have an EPD, an environmental statement based on a life cycle study (LCA study) that allows communication of objective, credible and comparable information relating to the environmental performance of a product throughout its entire life cycle. Urban Fencing's road safety products are characterised by a total production of greenhouse gases, total GWP in the 'from cradle to gate' analyses, significantly lower than traditional barriers made of galvanised steel. The main reason is the carbon dioxide storage function ensured by the use of PEFC certified laminated wood.

PEFC Chain of Custody

Barriers are manufactured under a PEFC Chain of Custody which demonstrates commitment to reducing deforestation, conserve biodiversity and act responsibly on a social level, through the implementation of a legal and sustainable wooden raw material supply system.

Use of sustainable materials

Barriers are produced with PEFC-certified laminated wood (to guarantee sustainable forest management) with a 100% certified wood.

The corten steel doesn't need galvanising, which is a polluting and energy-intensive process.

Guarantee

Barriers are guaranteed for 20 years.
