Permacrib retaining wall - new retail site, Sheffield
Phi Group supplied and installed two BBA-certified Permacrib timber crib retaining walls for a multi-million pound retail development in Sheffield. The 100,000 sq ft St James Retail Park will be home to several high-profile national chains and is due for completion in 2018
A former Sheffield college campus, Norton College, is being transformed into a multi-million pound retail development. The 100,000 sq ft St James Retail Park will be home to several high-profile national chains and is due for completion in 2018.
Work undertaken
As part of the development work, retaining walls were required and the Phi Group was contracted by GMI Construction to design, supply and install two of their BBA-certified Permacrib timber crib retaining walls. The package of works included the foundation excavation together with the supply and placement of all infill and backfill material. This full turn-key approach provided GMI Construction with a complete package therefore minimising risk and co-ordination issues on site.
200 square metres of Permacrib walling over two retaining walls were supplied, with a maximum retained height of 3.0m.
