Overview

Emma Stothard created these unique, large-scale elephant sculptures from a fabricated steel frame, which was then handwoven with bronze wire.

They were commissioned as part of a ‘Stone Age Safari’ project for Ebbsfleet to commemorate the paleolithic past and the discovery of ancient elephant remains in the area. They are a striking addition to Castle Hill.

Testimonial

Carol Unwin, from Groundwork South, said: “It was a momentous occasion watching the cranes put the pieces of art in place.

“We’re delighted to have helped the community direct the artworks on this important site, and are overjoyed with the result.

“The artists responded really well to the community’s ideas, and these new sculptures - something to lift the spirit, and that everyone can be proud of.”
