Sandstone Greenman by Tom J. Nichols

Columnar sculpture carved from Woodkirk sandstone representing an interwoven mass of foliage and organic leaf forms surrounding the carved face of a man. The solid sandstone of the piece is transformed into movment and rhythm. It draws on the symbolism surrounding myths of the "Green Man", common in folklore and historical artefacts.
