Context

Brandon Country Park, located near Thetford Forest in Suffolk, was originally a country house with extensive parkland and is now owned and managed by Suffolk County Council.

Spread over 32 acres, the landscaped parkland includes lawns, a lake and a walled garden. Marked routes for walking and cycling take visitors through the park and the surrounding Thetford Forest. Full facilities are available for a family day out, including picnic tables, a visitor centre with a cafe, and a children’s play area.

Work undertaken

Hornbeck was approached by Suffolk County Council and asked to assist in upgrading the signage throughout the park. The existing signs were in need of replacement and a new corporate logo had been developed that was to be included on the signage.

Hornbeck completed a site survey and created a new signage scheme manufactured from FSC-certified English Oak with engraved and painted legend.

The scheme includes ladders signs, directory and orientation signage highlighting the waymarked paths.

Outcome

The new signage complements the existing infrastructure of the park, such as timber bollards, and has helped raise the profile of the visitor experience.

Testimonial

“We are very pleased with our new signs at Brandon Country Park, they sit well in the park and look great. Working with Hornbeck was a breeze really, and they made it very easy for us to decide what we wanted. Hornbeck also went above and beyond when amendments to the order were needed. So all in all we are very happy with the results."
