Maccaferri Rockfall Barriers (or Catch Fences) are designed to intercept and catch falling rocks and boulders before they impact infrastructure, mine haul roads, buildings or other assets.  Our wide portfolio of rockfall barriers range from 35 kJ capacity with a height of 1.35m to a massive 9000 kJ capacity with a height of 8m ensuring there is a barrier for all eventualities! Maccaferri Rockfall Barriers are supplied in a "kit" form. All components are supplied in the kit in accordance with EAD 340059-00-0106 or EAD 340089-00-0106, including main nets, posts, base plates, energy dissipation devices, wire ropes and all accessories.

Our rockfall barriers are CE-marked, proving our rigorous quality control.

Maccaferri’s rockfall barriers are among the best-performing in the market:

  • Greater residual height after impact – the deformed barrier is taller after impact and better able to protect the area beneath the barrier from subsequent impacts

  • Lower deformation upon impact. – the barrier can be placed closer to the asset to be protected

Our barriers have been designed with features to make the installation process simpler and safer; pre-assembled containment panels on the posts, climbing steps on the posts, and system opening of the panels.

They are tested and certified in accordance with the European Test and Approval Guideline 27 (ETAG 27) of the European Organisation for Technical Approvals (EOTA).

Following a major impact event, the barrier is deformed plastically. The residual height of the barrier following impact is an important characteristic; the barrier may be exposed to a second rockfall impact in rapid succession before it has been repaired. All Maccaferri dynamic rockfall barriers exhibit residual heights within the highest category, Class A in accordance with ETAG 027.
