Meadowmat for Birds and Bees is a pre-grown wild flower matting that makes it easy to establish wild flowers in a garden or landscaping project.
The 42 species of plants and flowers in this wild flower mat have been specially selected to give a long flowering period and some winter interest.
Species are especially rich in pollen and nectar to support honey bees, solitary bees, bumblebees and other pollinating insects. In winter, the architectural seed heads will look amazing (especially on frosty mornings) and they will provide food for birds.
Wild flowers are notoriously difficult to establish from seed or from plug plants. Conditions need to be just right and many an attempt at making an area of wild flower meadow has led to disappointment.
Meadowmat for Birds and Bees is supplied with at least 75% coverage of wild grasses and flowering plants already growing strongly and ready to root into your prepared soil. These will very quickly establish into a lush sward.
The plants are grown from seed on to a thin layer of growing medium that is supported by a fine net. Meadowmat for Birds and Bees is not the same as wild flower turf, the roots are not disturbed during harvest and transportation, so once laid onto prepared soil, it will very quickly form a healthy sward of mixed wild flowers.
