Challenge
CTS was commissioned to design, manufacture and install a U-frame-stiffened steel truss footbridge for Bootle Oriel Road railway station in Merseyside, with steps for access at both sides.
Solution
CTS's design engineers liaised closely with the main contractor and the client to produce a bespoke railway bridge that matched their initial aspirations. The new railway bridge specification included service ducts, lift shafts, steps and lighting and bespoke stainless steel detailing which were all accommodated during CTS's design process.
The bridge was manufactured at CTS's factory in Huddersfield and delivered to site on time for a weekend night time rail closure. CTS's own teams carried out the installation over the railway to prepared method statements, risk assessments and safe systems of work. All CTS's employees hold CSCS cards.
Outcome
CTS provided a tailored solution to meet the clients requirements and deliver the complete superstructure package on time and on budget.
