Tree root protection
Tree root protection systems work by providing structural support to prevent soil compaction and consequent damage to shallow root structures. Tree root protection can be achieved using geocells, geocellular tree root cages, tree root bridges, tree grilles, permeable resin bound surfacing and root barriers.
The most common solution for new roads and driveways is to use three dimensional geocells to strengthen porous infill materials thereby protecting tree roots from compaction.
Tree root barriers help protect tree roots by stopping them damaging pavements, walls and pipework.
Urban tree roots can be protected by using cellular cages to prevent soil compaction and provide structural support for tree grilles and porous resin bound tree pit surfacing.
Tree root bridges provide structural support when construction is planned near existing trees and can be used to extend car parking provision or for building new pathways and staircases.
