Challenge

Bordering the Thames in Fulham, West London, The Hurlingham Club covers 42 acres of grounds, with a Georgian Clubhouse for members use.

The exclusive members club offers a wide selection of sporting and recreational facilities and as more members now attend the club with their children, it wanted to create contemporary play space that provided for the younger generations.

Timberplay was contacted to discuss how a play space could be created to with strong natural elements that were in keeping with the surrounding landscape.

Solution

The rustic play space was split into two areas, a toddler zone and an adventure zone. As a centrepiece the play area, is what is thought to be the largest climbing forest installation in the UK.

Alongside this are two tree houses with interlinking platforms and bridges, together with climbing walls and balance beams.

Toddlers are kept amused with play equipment more suited to their abilities and a water play area.
