Challenge

Massey & Harris were commissioned to design and install a play area for Manley Primary & Infant School to feature all specifications in the original brief, which included the removal and replacement of existing surface, extensive ground works and landscaping.

Solution

The company removed all the existing surfacing, tarmac, grass and slabs, as well as excavating and preparing the site, adjusting the levels where required to overcome drainage problems.

A tarmac cycle track with sleeper edging and timber rounds was created, forming raised flower beds.

A new path and a natural sandstone paved area were added, as well as feature footpaths using tegula block paving. A multi-stem silver birch tree was planted as a feature with a surrounding tree seat.

A low level trim trail was added into coloured wet pour rubber with graphics.

The company also supplied and installed a Cicgona canopy.

Outcome

The result was a bespoke design featuring all the specifications set out in the original brief, with the project completed both on time and within budget.

All equipment is designed to challenge the children including balancing, co-ordination, timing and running activities.
