Challenge
Jacksons Fencing was approached by Vinci Construction to deliver and install over 1000m of durable safety fencing and barriers to secure all eleven floors of the state-of-the art 667 space multistorey car park being built for Lister Hospital in Stevenage.
The fencing had to secure all gaps in the structural framework of the building, including the lifts, to maximise safety for members of the public using the car park facility.
Solution
Following the initial approach, a meeting was set up in March 2011 to discuss the unique requirements of this assignment. After four visits to the proposed site by the Jacksons Fencing team, which included Fencing Manager, Paul Peers and representatives from the in-house Jacksons Design team, and following numerous in-depth discussions about the complexities of the project, Jacksons Fencing’s galvanised EuroGuard Flatform medium steel welded mesh panels were selected.
EuroGuard mesh panels have a flat profile with double horizontal wires that delivers a robust and ultra secure barrier.
The Jacksons Fencing team also had to overcome the challenge of securing the mesh and RHS section steel supports and posts, to the existing main steel structure and ensures compliance with the client’s exacting specifications, whilst also achieving an aesthetically pleasing result.
Outcome
Installation started in late May 2011 and was completed ahead of the schedule quoted to the client. From start to finish, Jackson’s contribution to the multi-storey car park initiative was completed in approximately four months.
Following the successful installation, the company is discussing additional perimeter security and access control requirements to further enhance the development.
