Hoardfence keeps Manchester city-centre project moving
Myco Contracts needed to secure an external site compound on a live public thoroughfare in Manchester city centre, controlling access for deliveries and waste removal while protecting the public and keeping the programme on track.
Having worked with Westgate Global before, Myco returned to a team they trusted. Westgate supplied and installed the Hoardfence system, securing the compound without disrupting the live site.
External hoarding ensures site security during live construction project
Midway through a live city-centre project, Myco Contracts needed to secure an external compound on the street adjacent to the site. The location posed a number of operational demands: safe unloading zones for deliveries, controlled access for waste removal, and overnight security for materials and equipment, all on a public thoroughfare, with the wider project continuing around it.
A relationship built on trust
Westgate had already been working with Myco on this project, supplying around 80 linear metres of the Hoardfast PVC internal hoarding system earlier in the programme, as well as on previous projects in London.
When the compound requirement arose, Myco returned to Westgate. Not because of a tender process, but because they knew that the team would plan ahead, manage the details, and limits the risk.
Westgate Global supplied and installed the Hoardfence system, a robust external hoarding solution built to provide site perimeter security in exactly this kind of street-level environment.
Hoardfence panels, modular support framing and concrete ballast blocks were used to create a secure, free-standing perimeter that holds firm on sloping or uneven ground, with wind load calculated for extra durability.
The system controls access, restricts unauthorised entry and keeps the public safe from site hazards and moving plant, without requiring ground fixings or permanent works. Crucially for the busy street environment, Hoardfence is quick to install, easy to reconfigure if access requirements change, and 100% reusable and recyclable, so Myco got a secure compound that could adapt as the project evolved, without generating unnecessary waste or cost.
The system gave Myco a controlled perimeter that separated the compound from the live thoroughfare, allowing operations to continue. This meant deliveries, waste removal and storage could be managed without disrupting either the public or the wider project works.

The Westgate Way
Westgate Global took ownership from the outset, configuring the modular Hoardfence solution to fit a tight street footprint, maintaining public safety on a live city-centre thoroughfare, and installing without disrupting the programme. The Hoardfence system performed as specified, and the programme kept moving.
"City-centre sites don't give you much room for error. We knew the constraints, planned around them, and installed without disrupting the project."
