CocoTurf was installed at a new outdoor fitness space at Highbury Fields in Islington, in partnership with Swing Fitness. The project creates a dedicated training area within one of London's most popular parks, surfaced with the world's first non-plastic artificial turf made from natural coconut fibres.

Sustainability

Unlike traditional synthetic surfaces, CocoTurf is made from natural coconut husk fibres with a natural backing, eliminating microplastics and avoiding the use of PFAS. The project reflects a growing shift towards more environmentally responsible materials in public spaces, demonstrating that sustainability and performance can go hand in hand.

Performance

CocoTurf is designed to withstand repeated, high-intensity use while providing a comfortable and safe training environment. Its soft, natural feel underfoot helps reduce impact without compromising the durability required for functional fitness activities.

Fitting the Environment

Set within Highbury Fields, the installation blends into the park landscape. The natural tones and materials create a space that feels integrated.

Community Impact

The finished facility is free to use and open to the public, supporting Swing Fitness's mission to make exercise more accessible within local communities. The space is designed to encourage movement, wellbeing, and social connection.
