Context

The Southsea Coastal Scheme is the UK’s largest local authority-led coastal defences project, worth more than £185M.

It will stretch for 4.5km from Old Portsmouth to Eastney, and help to reduce the risk of flooding to more than 10,000 homes and 700 businesses.

Approximately 4,000 of these properties are at risk of direct threshold inundation.

Work done

Urban Fencing supplied and installed a timber & steel vehicle restraint system for the Southsea Coastal Scheme.

The use of timber cladding and corten steel creates a crash rated safety barrier that looks and feels like part of the natural environment.

Urban Fencing provided the initial post installation and push design test, and subsequently installed an N2 BL01 barrier providing a containment of N2 and a working width of W4.
