A Decent Neighborhood Project generally refers to a residential area where there are initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life in specific aspects and create more sustainable communities. These initiatives, which focus on the overall wellbeing of residents, may place emphasis on enhancing the landscaped environment, community safety, improvement of infrastructure or better access to social services.
One of Southampton City Council’s many initiatives within its scheme is to provide new bin bays made from 100% recycled plastic. The benefits to residents are many:
Bins are tidied away out of sight – vastly improving the aesthetics of an area
Durable and long-lasting: the bays are built to withstand the elements and heavy use
More room for other communal requirements
No splintering, rotting or rusting
Graffiti-resistant
Jet-washable
No maintenance
By purchasing recycled plastic bin bays, large amounts of plastic is saved from going to landfill, helping to create a cleaner, greener and more sustainable city.
Southampton City Council is committed to improving and maintaining high-quality external environments around council homes that benefit the tenants.
By making these improvements, the Council is also promoting responsible waste management and a more sustainable future.
