Context
Proludic has transformed a tired local park at Tardy Gate into a vibrant and inclusive community play and sports area.
Working in partnership with South Ribble Borough Council, Proludic designed and installed the refurbishment, creating an exciting play destination that encourages active, social and imaginative play, and promotes accessibility and inclusion.
Project detail
The park includes a ninja trail with a solar-powered stopwatch panel for timed challenges and friendly competition. Two Diabolo multiplay units offer exploration and challenge for younger and older children, while features such as a wheelchair-accessible roundabout and brightly coloured shop play panels ensure inclusive play for every ability.
A new Multi-Use Games Area offers facilities for ball games and skating, with bright colours and an open-sided design to make it welcoming and spectator-friendly.
The site’s existing tarmac and safer surfacing have been upgraded with artificial carpet surfacing and thermoplastic graphics.
The original teen shelter has been repainted to enhance the park’s appeal. Additionally, a low-level skate ramp appeals to skateboarders and bike riders alike.
Outcome
The resulting space is a dynamic, accessible and sustainable community play and sports area, where people in the local area can unite through fun, fitness and inclusive design.
