Created by Broadbent Studio as part of the Bosworth 1485 Sculpture Trail in Market Bosworth, Chapter 1 (of 5) is entitled 'The Calm Before the Storm'.

Representing King Richard III in prayer, the stone figure was installed in a carefully excavated, perfectly circular hole at the Church of St James in Sutton Cheney.

Legend has it that Richard III prayed in the church on the eve of meeting Henry Tudor in battle. The lives of his soldiers and the future of the country lay heavy on his mind yet, in that moment of self-examination, the King became a man unprotected by his office. A man kneeling before his maker, asking what the morrow would bring.
