In Spring 2025, eibe Play proudly completed the installation of the Rockmaster Tough Trail unit at KC Active, a sports and recreation centre in Kings Cliffe, Peterborough. This dynamic new addition forms part of KC Active’s ongoing mission to improve health, wellbeing, and access to play for local children and families. Designed with challenge, adventure, and inclusivity in mind, the Tough Trail has quickly become a popular attraction for visitors of all ages.

The Rockmaster Tough Trail is one of eibe’s most exciting and physically engaging play units. Inspired by the thrill of Ninja Warrior, parkour, free running, and obstacle trails, it combines climbing, balancing, crawling, and coordination challenges into one continuous circuit. The layout is modular, featuring ropes, overhead ladders, angled climbing walls, monkey bars, traverse nets, and jumping elements. The unit forms an open-ended loop that encourages group interaction, competition, and repeated play. KC Active chose its bold blue and green charity colours for their Rockmaster unit.

Targeted at children aged 10 and above, the Tough Trail promotes both independent and social play. The course is intentionally non-linear and unprescribed, allowing children to choose their own pace and routes. Whether racing a friend from one end to the other or taking each element slowly and carefully, every child can feel a sense of progress and achievement. The equipment is created to encourage outdoor physical activity, helping to build strength, coordination, and resilience through enjoyable, active movement.

One of the most appealing aspects of the Tough trail to KC Active was that it served as a large play area, attracting children of a variety of ages to engage in physical activity. KC Active staff noted that for older children, the Rockmaster provides a more daring and aspirational space for play which is an important element often missing in public parks. This age-appropriate challenge helps prevent disengagement from play as children get older.

The unit’s bold, contemporary aesthetic integrates smoothly into the KC Active site. The structure enhances visual interest and a sense of adventure in the space, helping to attract visitors and promote repeat visits. Made from hard-wearing, low-maintenance materials, the Rockmaster is built for heavy use and durability, making it a cost-effective long-term investment for the charity-run venue.

The installation was celebrated with a launch event on International Day of Play in June 2025, drawing families from across the region. With a free running demonstration from Spiral Freerun, food, giveaways and hands-on play, the event was a huge success. It demonstrated the Rockmaster’s ability to draw a crowd and engage children in energetic play.

In summary, the Rockmaster Tough Trail has been a very successful addition to KC Active. It has elevated the play offer for local families and supported the charity’s mission to promote active, healthy lifestyles for children. The partnership between eibe Play and KC Active stands as a strong example of how thoughtful, high-quality play provision can enrich communities.
