Context
Kinley provided Urban steel landscaping edging for Strand Aldwych. Westminster City Council created a brand new public space, turning one of central London's most congested areas into a pedestrian-friendly amenity zone.
The project was designed by LDA Design, with a £22m budget, converting a high-traffic area into welcoming green space, improving pedestrian safety and accessibility. The pedestrianised zone links key cultural and educational institutions like King's College London, Somerset House and The Courtauld Institute.
By incorporating greenery and planting the development provides environmental benefits including improved air quality, and biodiversity, as well as space for relaxation and social interaction.
Work undertaken
Kinley provided Urban steel landscape edging with a footplate, powder-coated in RAL 8029 to match benches and street furniture elements in the same scheme.
The system was installed by FM Conway to complement the overall design by ensuring cohesive and durable urban landscaping.
Kinley's Urban steel edging helped to realise the project's vision by harmonising separate elements of the development as well as surrounding heritage architecture, all while providing a durable, long-lasting edging solution.
