Context

Lochrin Bain manufactured and supplied its LPS 1175 rated A1 (SR1) Lochrin 358 SL1 mesh fencing system to deliver a high-security perimeter for a new £multimillion, state-of-the-art waste water treatment works in West Lothian as part of the major infrastructure developments supporting one of the UK’s largest urban expansions.

The facility, only the second of its kind in Scotland, will serve thousands of new homes and businesses, playing a critical role in ensuring sustainable water management across the region.

Lochrin Bain collaborated with contractor James Strang Ltd to deliver a high-security perimeter fencing solution for the facility. The LPS 1175 rated A1 (SR1) Lochrin 358 SL1 mesh fencing system was installed, providing robust, long-lasting protection for this vital asset.

Challenge

Delivering a security solution for such a high-profile and technologically advanced facility presented several challenges. As a critical piece of infrastructure, the site required fencing systems that met rigorous security and certification standards to prevent unauthorised access and ensure operational integrity. With the facility forming part of a broader urban expansion schedule, it was essential that fencing installation was completed on time to enable final commissioning and site handover. Despite these challenges, Lochrin Bain and James Strang Ltd worked closely together to ensure seamless installation and full compliance with all security and safety requirements.

Specification

The fencing system comprised several hundred metres of Lochrin 358 SL1 Mesh, developed specifically to meet the needs of sites requiring both high visibility and certified security performance. Key features include Certification to LPCB A1 (SR1) independently tested and certified to LPS 1175 standards for resistance to forced entry. This system is ideal for utilities, and other high-risk infrastructure requiring a certified physical security barrier without compromising visibility or aesthetics.

Result

The project was delivered on time and to specification, with Lochrin 358 SL1 providing the necessary perimeter protection to support the long-term operation of the new waste water treatment works. The result is a highly secure and visually discreet barrier that enhances the safety and resilience of a critical asset.

The project marks another key milestone in Lochrin Bain’s commitment to securing critical infrastructure across the UK.
