Planters created by IOTA for Lots Road Power Station, Chelsea, London
IOTA was contracted to design, manufacture and supply 150 separate ceiling feature elements
Planters for Lots Road Power Station, Chelsea, London
Planters form the landscaped element of a 100m public atrium in the former turbine hall
Ceiling features were made from 3mm-thick aluminium with a bronze finish
The planter finish is ultra-matt Interpon D2015 Precis paint formulation in Dark Bronze Y2M01L
Ceiling elements were required to be design-integrated with lighting, ventilation and fire extinguisher systems
The planters were designed to fasten to a SHS steel framework which formed the skeleton of the central atrium features
Planters were thoroughly sealed during manufacture and fitted with butyl liners at installation
The metallic bronze colour was very unforgiving; and the features needed to be fully-welded with great precision
The redevelopment of the Lots Road Power Station delivers 260 luxury, Thames-side apartments within the heart of Chelsea
