Challenge

NBB Outdoors was approached to help create a new sheltered recreation area for students at Poole High School.

Solution

The company's installation team attended the school to discuss its requirements and expectations and it was decided that a two-tiered freestanding Winterbourne walkway was the most suitable option to give the right amount of coverage for the school’s needs.

The finished project takes the form of a 12.8 x 11.75m freestanding steel shelter, with a mixture of sub-surfaced and wall-attached posts.

Guttering was also included to stop rain from cascading between the tiers and over the end of the shelter.

The roof is made from triple-wall 16mm polycarbonate, to give a light and airy feel.

To complement the school's colours and current aesthetic, Poole High School opted to have the shelter galvanised and powder-coated in Squirrel Grey RAL7000. This surface treatment means the structure will be guaranteed to last 25 years, serving the school for many years to come.
