Context

CED Stone supplied Desert Blend granite paving and Caithness paving to tight deadlines for the redevelopment of a section of Saint John's Wood High Street, a bustling and lively space in Westminster.

First deliveries were made within 5 weeks of orders being placed, with final deliveries completed within 10 weeks.

Project detail

Stone included CED's Desert Blend granite from Portugal which, when quarried, is a blend of grey and beige tones. A flamed finish was provided for this project which changed the beige colours to the vibrant red, pink tones seen in the final supply. The paving is 70mm thick in 300 x 600mm units; setts were supplied 150mm wide x 100mm deep x 250mm long. The Desert Blend accentuates the feel of the space and adds brighter and warmer colour tones.

CeD also supplied dark grey Caithness Flagstone with a natural riven, top surface finish. The flagstone is quarried in the North of Scotland and then slabbed, cut to size and packaged at the production factory there. The supply was for paving slabs with 70mm nominal thickness in 300mm squares. The riven finish is flat enough to present a comfortable walking surface whilst maintaining very good natural slip resistance.

Result

A successful project supplied on time, with the natural stone lifting the overall appearance and atmosphere of the streetscape.
