Challenge

Langley Design was commissioned to create a cost-effective solution for shelters and a covered walkway at Lea & Garsdon CE Primary School in Wiltshire.

The existing school received a new KS1 building providing a new hall, three new classrooms and SENco room, and a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen.

Solution

Utilising its Sheldon timber canopy system, Langley provided three large SCP307s to the school’s external areas. The first of these provided a covered walkway from the existing school buildings to the new extension block, with the other canopies providing shelter to the external areas adjacent to the new classrooms, allowing the children to use this additional space whatever the weather.

Manufactured in budget-friendly standard treated Class 4 Redwood timbers, and with long-lasting durable galvanised steel posts, the canopies were finished with a powder-coated guttering to match that of the main building.
