Urban Street Furniture developed, manufactured and delivered the hundreds of street furniture elements required for this extensive greening project, on a tight timescale and within a closely controlled budget, covering approximately 2.5km of paving along the length of Regent Street, London from Cavendish Place in the north to Waterloo Place in the south.
The project is part of an 18-month temporary traffic order to widen pedestrian space and reduce the volume and speed of traffic.
Requirement
As part of the project, the clients required sustainable, aesthetic, structural planting containers to replace temporary plastic road barriers, which had initially been used.
Solution
Working collaboratively with Architects BDP from their initial concept, on-site contractor FM Conway and clients, The Crown Estate and Westminster City Council, Urban SF developed a fully-defined solution.
Products were manufactured, assembled and deployed to site at the speed and scale require to meet the clients' compact schedule for opening the scheme.
