Overview

Tilbury Douglas approached Langley Design to work with them on an area where pupils at Discovery Academy could shelter from the elements and still enjoy the outdoor space.

The new 80-place special free school is run by the award-winning Nexus Multi Academy Trust and offers education and support for children with autism spectrum disorder and social, emotional and mental health needs within Sheffield.

Project detail

The Sheldon SPG326 canopy was an ideal solution; with its large, clear internal span it maximises the useable space underneath. The non-fragile roofing also comes in a variety of eye-catching colours that creates a beautiful visual to the surrounding area as the light passes through the polycarbonate.

In order to ensure minimal upkeep, Sheldon SST303 recycled plastic seats were chosen to create resting places for the children and teachers alike.

Langley also provided Malford door barriers and bollards to complete the project.
