Overview

Langley Design manufactured and installed a bin storage unit, benching and cycle parking for York’s historic Guildhall, which had received a £21.7m funding boost to complete an extensive restoration and redevelopment programme with the aim to provide additional support to local businesses, entrepreneurs and start-ups looking to grow and drive economic growth within the city.

Completed by main contractor Vinci the restored building includes high-quality office, meeting and conference spaces, café and restaurant provision, and community and civic areas for visitors and local residents.

Project detail

Langley Design was engaged from an early stage, working to provide a bespoke bin storage unit and benching for the prestigious area. Designed and manufactured from oak, the products offer a stunning finish whilst providing a durable and long-lasting material solution.

The bin storage unit was clad in alternating-sized cladding pales to furnish the area with an additional stylish touch.

Langley provided chunky 100 x 150mm timber bench slats which were mounted to the brick-built planters and integrated seamlessly with the rustic look of the surrounding space.

Finally, Langley provided some of its standard street furniture staples: Sheldon MCR200 Sheffield cycle stands and MCR205 two-tier cycle racks. These offer both traditional and high-density storage solutions, and are suitable for use across a wide range of sectors and projects.
