Challenge

Cotswold School approached Langley Design to produce a range of street furniture to go around the site, providing a collection of seating, planters and bins, all within the school’s budget.

Based in Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire the school is a growing 11-18 comprehensive academy. With the school having recently grown from 220 to 250 pupils the site was in need of new external seating areas.

Solution

Langley used its extensive education sector knowledge and solutions-based approach to maximise the seating areas and planting provision whilst still trying to value-engineer where possible to give the school the biggest impact for its spend.

Products

Langley used a combination of Sheldon SBN300 and SBN304 benches.

  • SBN300 benches with tubular galvanised steel legs were root-fixed into concrete below ground level then finished with paving, giving a seamless finish with no visible fixing points.

  • Sheldon SBN304 benches are mounted on grey granite plinths which sit directly on a level engineered surface and allowed the school to install these to their levelled tarmac areas.

Langley also provided a variety of planters and planters with integral benching, a solution which means the school is able to further utilise its space without adding significant cost.

The scheme was finished off with timber litter bins, as with all the other items, fabricated in a Class 4 treated Redwood to give a harmonious and consistent look throughout the external spaces, whilst offering a long-lasting and durable finish.

  • 3x Sheldon bench SBN304

  • 7x Sheldon bench SBN300

  • 2x Sheldon litter container SLC308

  • 4x Sheldon planter bench SPL316

  • 7x Sheldon planter SPL300

Outcome

All items produced were manufactured bespoke to match the exterior outline of the building, to fully utilise the area that was available and add more of this much-needed pupil seating.
