Challenge

isGroup was awarded a prestigious contract by Carlisle City Council to manufacture and install 11 double-sided heritage and wayfinding monolith signs plus 15 directional fingerposts within the city centre and its main access roads.

Solution

The WAY2GO wayfinding system allowed the Council the flexibility to purchase a standard signage system but customise it to its own requirements, as well as providing it with its own unique, consistently-branded version.

Carlisle’s WAY2GO specification celebrated its Cumbrian connection and included lower panels customised with Cumbrian Broughton Moor stone, sourced from the nearby quarry, These were complemented by reverse-digitally-printed glass showing Carlisle’s heritage information and wayfinding maps.

The WAY2GO fingerpost signs include the Council’s crest logo, positioned on top of the posts.

Outcome

The new wayfinding system has significantly improved the city’s public realm navigation.
